students to reflect on the themes and texts we have explored in the course and select a modern day issue or event that best demonstrates their understanding of concepts of race and gender violence. At this point in the semester, students must select their topic and submit a 2-3 page topic proposal alongside a 3-5 page annotated bibliography.
Topic proposals will be evaluated on relevance to the course, feasibility for research and critical analysis, as well as plans for execution. In their topic proposals, students must include:
Chosen Case Study (Elect ONE modern example of race and gender violence)
Brief History of Chosen Theme (From existing course content)
Brief outline of plan for project (If choosing to do the paper, students can discuss how they plan to structure the paper)
Any difficulties, anticipated challenges, or questions they may have for the instructor
Annotated Bibliographies must include a minimum of 10 sources, with at least 3 from the course and 2 primary sources. Sources MUST be scholarly sources. Please consult Woods Library Support or the Purdue Writing Lab

for guidance on how to determine credible sources. Films, podcasts, and news articles/thinkpieces are SUPPLEMENTAL, and DO NOT count toward the source lists. You must use ASA source formatting

for your annotated bibliography.
