Pick a side
Now that you’ve thoroughly examined both sides if the Prison Overcrowding Problem, it’s time to pick a side.
At this juncture and based one what you’ve learned through your research on the topic, you need to decide what you think would work best to alleviate the prison overcrowding problem. You’ll need to focus your attention on THREE ways in which to address the problem. So for instance, you may argue that 1.) building more prisons; 2.) legalizing certain drugs; and 3.) improving alternative sentencing options may be the best way to address the problem. Or perhaps you might choose, 1.) longer mandatory sentencing to increase the deterrent effect; 2. ) prison reform so that it’s not such a “pleasurable” experience; and 3.) privatizing the prison system.
There is no right or wrong selections. You ultimately are not being graded on whether your selections are the best way to alleviate the prison overcrowding problem, but rather how you defend your selection. In your final draft you will need to support each one of your choices with research. Although this paper relies partly on your opinion of what will work, please remember that your opinion alone IS NOT enough. As you’ve now reasearched both sides, you should have the relevant support to defend your selections. The purpose of the Outline is to organize your paper.
The paper due on this date needs to include a title page and an outline of the headings and subheadings you plan to include in the paper along with any references you have collected to date (100 possible points awarded). Think about headings for your paper and the logical order that you will present them. You are now framing the paper. Start with an introduction, and then decide what comes next in your argument or discussion.
Note: I’ve attached my literature review that examines both sides and a sample of the outline.
