Please save the two parts–the “Gathering Guide” (reading, looking, listening) and the “Demonstration Platform” (writing) on your own computer–in whichever format you can write in, MS Word (.docx) or .pdf
You will type your answers directly into the “Demonstration,” and then you will attach it to your submission on Blackboard. HW #2 is due before 12:00 p.m. noon / mid-day on 9/11. (Again, please complete HW #1 SECOND–but as soon as you can, okay?)
Please do get in touch with each other and share ideas for the summaries and descriptions. You will each do your own writing, of course, but certainly feel free to share your perspectives.
You should read the Cornerstones carefully, because those are the stories that inspired the various artworks in the Extensions. YOU DO NOT NEED TO READ EVERY WORD OF THE EXTENSIONS ARTICLES. I will be giving you lots of illustrated articles from sites like Eclectic Light Co. to read and look at, but mainly to look at. Please take the time to look at the paintings, and when an artwork catches your attention, slow down with your reading and learn something about it.
You should also save the Greco-Roman Sideshow on your computer, in either PowerPoint or .pdf. Then you can expand the artworks to see them in more detail, etc. When you close the slideshow, you will be asked if you want to save your changes. Select, “No.” or “Don’t save.” That way, all of the artworks will revert to their original size. The slide numbers in the PowerPoint correspond to the page numbers in the .pdf. Numbers 38-95 illustrate or interpret the Cornerstone stories for HW #2. The artworks correspond in sequence to the order of the Cornerstone stories, and to some extent they line up with the order of events in the stories, too.
HINT: You can use the artworks to help you write your summaries of the stories, and you can use what you know about the stories to help you describe the artworks, too. The process can work in both directions.
