Document Set for Discussion Board: Trail of Tears

For this discussion, I want you to see a bit of the struggle of working in/with history as more evidence and new perspectives leads to a more complex knowledge/narrative about the past. In this case, it is the legacy of slavery in both the South and Cherokee communities. For this discussion I want you to write about two things:

Spend some time in the complexities of “Indian Removal” given the newly included information about slaves owned by the Cherokee. How does this information complicate the historical narrative of removal? How should historical sites along the Trail or Tears address this new layer of the history? Dig into this question a bit, do NOT try to breeze through it in a few sentences. As always your answer should reference the assigned sources.
Second, what do these sources tell us about the process of removal itself. How would you describe it? What stands out to you about it? Is there anything particular interesting or shocking? Use all of the documents from the group of documents provided in the document folder to answer this question. I expect to see you reference and cite your sources (the module documents)
