Assignment 2: Cultural Diversity Interview Paper
The purpose of this assignment is for each student to examine diversity through conducting an interview with a person from a different cultural background. Use critical thinking, interpersonal, open-ended questions, respect and active listening skills to conduct the interview.
The student should address the following areas to successfully complete the assignment:
What is the ethnic, racial, nationality, gender identity, spiritual/religious beliefs, and cultural norms of the person interviewed?
How does the cultural background of the person interviewed differ from the student’s cultural background?
What are the strengths of the culture and diversity of the person interviewed?
What are the challenges, bias, or ‘isms’ the person interviewed experienced in life?
What are the societal or environmental factors that have impacted the person interviewed?
What did the student learn about the person and the person’s culture that helped to better understand diversity and the difference between the student and the person interviewed?
How can the new knowledge about the person interviewed serve beneficial when working with other diverse clients as a future Social Worker? Be specific
Interview Paper Format:
Include a Cover page (name of the student; class name, and date submitted)
Page limit: 3-5 pages with headers for each section of the paper
Two citations from the text or other peer-reviewed journal articles to support the content in the paper.
A reference page that aligns with APA format. The header for a reference page is entitled References.
Content that indicates answers to the Interview Assignment expectations that are listed above.
The paper should be in the first person; use “I” to refer to one’s own experiences.
Use Times New Roman, 12 font, double space, and 1-inch margins
