Students are required to write an essay of six to eight typed, double-spaced pages (with additional endnotes and a bibliography all in Chicago Style) of Beavert, Gift of Knowledge. This is not a re-editing of the first essay so much as a new one, based on the materials the entire course (especially Jacobs, Yakama Rising) regarding social, cultural, economic, and political tribal and individual histories and experiences. More than a “revision” of the first essay, this is expected to be an entirely new analysis as you should have substantially more material and many new ideas to bring to the table.
