Critically explore an interior that is significant to you in relation to two key words.
The subject is based around a guest speaker program in which each week a member of the Interior Design program explore an interior that has been significant to their research. As you know, the case studies are been highly diverse – we have explored different cultures, histories and times. The course has also modelled different approaches to the discipline of Interior Design. Interior Design might be described as an expanded discipline, open to new practices and ideas.
For this essay you will be invited to act like one of the guest speakers. You will:
1. select an interior that is of interest to you (I have chosen Golestan palace in Iran)
2. nominate two key words and use these to critically explore this interior
This assignment encourages you to follow your own interests and start articulating your emerging interests in interior design. You will also develop skills in independent scholarly research.
The ability to develop an argument which is based on evidence and critical reasoning is an important skill for a designer. You will develop these skills in this class through the development of an essay.
An essay presents a well-argued discussion or response to a question or proposition, using analysis and critique of relevant literature and visual analysis. It establishes a proposition or thesis and presents a point of view. This assignment is an opportunity for you to develop ideas and apply concepts and theories from this course.
This project will build your skills around scholarly research, close visual analysis and critical thinking.

The final essay must be 1500-words (not including footnotes and bibliography).
Your essay must be accompanied by images of your case study. Your essay should include visual/site analysis as part of your discussion.
