This week you will be working with simulations to prepare you for analyzing your real experiment next week!
Submitting this week:
Screenshots of PhET simulation when the skater is at the middle and bottom of the ramp with friction and without friction. Should be a total of 4 screenshots!
Observations from the PhET simulation.
Screenshot of oPhysics simulation after traveling a short distance.
Calculation of energy for the case with friction.
Objective 1: Using the PhET simulation, you will see what happens to energy for an object sliding down a ramp.
Start by going to the Energy Skate Park

PhET simulation and setting up the skater as shown in the screenshot below. Be sure all boxes are checked, the friction is set to “None”, and you have the skater paused at the top of the ramp. Yours should look exactly like the diagram below!
Observations: Report what you observe when the skater reaches the halfway point down the ramp and at the very bottom. (What is happening in the bar graph/pie chart as well as the speedometer?) What is your prediction of the models/graphs if we add friction? Explain your hypothesis and then try it using the friction slider. Please include a screenshot at the middle and bottom of the ramp.
Objective 2: Using the oPhysics simulation, you will calculate and check what happens to energy for an object sliding down a ramp.
Start by going to the oPhysics

website. Please set your coefficient of static friction (μs) and your initial velocity to zero!
Calculate the PE and KE at top of the hill and at bottom of the hill using trigonometry when needed and include a picture of your calculation in your report. Include a screenshot of your setup when the object is at the bottom of the ramp. Is the total energy the same at the beginning as it is at the end? What is the percent difference? Please show your calculations!
Let’s consider friction now: Run this simulation again with μk > 0. Set the value for μk that is similar to the value you found from your Lab 4 (Part 2) (which should have been between 0.2-0.8). Is the total energy the same at the beginning as it is at the end? What is the percent difference in this case? Please show your calculations! Include a screenshot of your setup when the object is at the bottom of the ramp.

, please calculate the work done by friction. Explain: Is this related to total energy?

Papers are written from scratch We have molded our writers to develop content for all assignments from scratch. This way, we promote originality and reduce cases of plagiarism that might affect your grades and hinder you from realizing your academic goals. We encourage our clients to indicate the deliverables that should be featured in the final paper. Our online help services allow one to make a clarification and even interact with the writer directly to help them understand the needs of the assignment. Many of our writers are professional tutors who understand the approaches that should be used to fulfill the specified instructions. Every time a client places an order on our system, we link them with the most qualified writer in the subject of interest.
YUnlike other writing companies, we encourage clients to draw back their money at any stage of the writing process if they experience any uncertainties with the quality of generated content. However, you will hardly have to make this decision because of our business approach that suits your needs.
